The ministries of the Congregational Care Committee are available to give you our time, help and support during times when you might need a meal, a ride, a prayer, or a listening ear.
Jesus told his followers, “love one another as I have loved you,” and we work to take this commandment to heart at Kenilworth Union. We strive to be a congregation where people can be open, feel safe, and love one another.
The Congregational Care Committee’s mission is to reflect God’s love by supporting, promoting and overseeing groups within the church that are working to provide spiritual nurturing and physical and emotional support to individuals in need.
Pastoral Care
Caring for individuals and families at the time of illness, accidents, or death is at the heart of Christian ministry. The minsters of Kenilworth Union seek to be fully present, counsel, and pray with families through challenging times. Care Connections: Care Connections connects members who no longer are able to participate in the in-person events yet remain vital to the life of the congregation. Frequent letters, phone calls, and when possible, meetings continue to connect members.
Care Guild: The Care Guild provides care to our members with meals, rides, and visits in times of illness, bereavement, arrival of a new baby, or other milestones in our lives.
Depression Support Group: Kenilworth Union hosts a chapter of the National Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance-North Shore. Persons under treatment, family members, and friends are welcome to attend.
Exploring Grief Group: In cooperation with SamaraCare Counseling and several other churches, faith-based grief support is provided by a clinical professional to members and any community resident.
KUC Cares: A group of teens and adults who reach out with extra support to the youth of the church and community.
Knitting Ministry: The Knitting Ministry crafts lap robes and bereavement blankets to be distributed through the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab and hospitals respectively.
Stephen Ministry: Stephen Ministry is a lay ministry that helps those facing life’s difficulties receive Christian love and support through one-to-one, confidential, caring relationships. Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have been specially trained to support people in need and are grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another.
Monday Faith Walk: A chance to meet, pray, and talk. We gather at the Church Cloisters on Mondays at 10 a.m. We share a devotional, then walk and talk at a good pace for all, arriving back to church by 11 a.m. Please contact Nancy Johnson to join this group or for more information.
