Summer Worship from Memorial Day to Labor Day
8:30 a.m. Worship with Communion—Memorial Garden: BYOB (Bring Your Own Chair) During inclement weather worship will be in the Sanctuary
10 a.m. Worship in the Sanctuary—livestream and in person
9:45 a.m. All Ages Summer Sunday School will meet twice a month during the summer on the even dates!

During 8:30 and 10 a.m. worship, childcare is available in classroom 12 for children ages six months through age three. There is no charge for this service but please let Greta Connor know you are coming.

Friends and neighbors gather for Fellowship at 10:45 a.m. in the front yard of church or in the Culbertson Room when weather is inclement. Coffee and cookies will be served with games for the kids.

Additional services are held during Advent and Lent.

Mid-Day Prayer

Please join us on Tuesdays at 12:15 p.m. in the sanctuary or via livestream for a brief prayer service when we lift the joys and concerns of members and requests from those who are present. Each week offers a new liturgy as we read through scriptures and hear a brief reflection. All are welcome.

Reminders for Livestream Worship

Internet connectivity can be unpredictable. In the event that a worship livestream is interrupted due to connectivity issues, please remember to check both sites from which we stream (kuc.org/watch and youtube.com/c/kenilworthunionchurch). Worship videos are also available online after the service has ended for you to watch when convenient; check here for our worship library. We apologize for any interrupted livestreams, but we do not expect it to be a recurring issue and are working hard to bring God’s message to you, no matter where you are.

From the Edens Expressway or I-94

Exit at Lake Avenue and drive east about 2¼ miles to Green Bay Road. Turn north (left). Continue to the first stoplight, Kenilworth Avenue. Turn east (right) and continue for about four blocks until reaching the Church on the north side of the street.

From Sheridan Road

There is only one stoplight on Sheridan Road in Kenilworth and this is Kenilworth Avenue. Turn west on Kenilworth Avenue from Sheridan Road and go about two blocks. The Church will be on the north (right) side of the street.

Parking

Kenilworth Union Church has street parking, plus there is construction on Kenilworth Avenue, please arrive early for your event.

And so we get this letter from Paul to his friends that begins with this tender, effusive salutation I thank my God for every remembrance of you, always in every one of my prayers for all of you, praying with joy for your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. I sense that you feel this way about one another from time to time. I thank my God for every remembrance of you. For one, these words “I thank my God for every remembrance” are written across the front of this Church’s 100th anniversary book published in 1996 by our friend Sally Campbell.

Jonah would rather die than live in a world where such people as the Ninevites get a second chance.

Haven’t we all been in a situation where speaking up could make us look foolish, or worse? Colleagues hesitate to question a doctor’s prescription error. Engineers are pushed to meet deadlines even when there’s a faulty part. Students do social calculus before deciding to stand up for someone being bullied at the next lunch table. In The "Out-Laws" movie that’s popular on Netflix, Owen, played by Adam DeVine, weighs the risk of losing his fiancée if he tells her “Your parents are bank robbers.” Harvard Business School Professor Amy Edmondson names this the voice-silence calculation. It turns out that remaining silent is often easier, because the almost certain and immediate benefit provides safety from retaliation and being wrong. On the other hand, speaking up benefits the group, often at some unknown and less likely point in the future. Can you blame Jonah for choosing to run away rather than speak up? The Ninevites get the benefit of God’s mercy, while Jonah’s doomsday prediction makes him look less reliable than a soapbox preacher yelling on the corner.
