Come see the story of an obsessed young woman as she waits for the arrival of the wanderer Dutchman who comes to shore once every seven years searching for a woman’s love and faithfulness. According to the Chicago Lyric, The Flying Dutchman showcases some of Wagner’s “most magnificent and emotional music, including thrilling, spectacular choruses.”

There will be a pre-opera presentation now known as the acclaimed Piepgras Lecture at either the home of John and Kathy Piepgras or in the Culberson Room depending on attendance count. This will take place on the preceding Sunday, September 24 at 4 p.m.

The day of the opera, Kathy Evertsberg will host a lunch at church for opera goers before we get on the bus to go into the city. Bill will be presenting the religious implications of the opera during lunch that is if he can find some! The Evertsberg’s do love all things Dutch and Kathy’s lunch will showcase a couple their favorites.
